August 2003
We will be sending you an 'issue' about once a month with news of the community and the MCA (that's Manchester Community Association NOT the Manchester Christian Academy).
The Manchester Festival 2003 is now in the history books and we're calling it a success!! We had a few problems and stumbling blocks but with the vendors, new MCA members, donations and participation of the community we came out in the black!
A very hearty and heart-felt thanks to Subaru for their generous donation to our festival. Thanks also to long time Manchester resident, best known as Northwest Subaru Jack, Jack Linenger who has long supported the MCA and all our efforts. We appreciate every gesture of support.
And if we might toot our own horn a little.... the current version of the Manchester Community Association is comprised of Brian Moore, president; Phil Paquette, vice president; Anne Cisney, secretary and web master; Bev Nelson, treasurer and Debbie Whitehead, e-board member and Gal Friday. It is this small hand-full of people who work hard and countless hours to put on the Festival, erect the Christmas tree and host the Halloween event. Please consider participating in your local community group! We can use your help!!
We would like to thank the following companies and individuals for making the 1st Annual Manchester Festival a success:
All our new and continuing members:
All our vendors:
Everyone who came down, cruised the booths, bought a BBQ pork sandwich, played a game or just gave us a pat on the back and enjoyed the day.
THANK YOU ALL
VERY MUCH!!!
PRIZES & AUCTIONS
The MCA and The Friends of the Manchester Library had several fund raising functions going on at the Festival this year. The winner are:
FROM THE MANCHESTER COMMUNITY ASSOCIATION
FROM THE FRIENDS OF THE LIBRARY raffle
Just to refresh the community's memory...the MCA went into debt with the last few fireworks shows. Donations dried up, our sponsor dropped us and we, the MCA, haven't been able to raise the funds to pay off our $4500 fireworks debt. Unfortunately the MCA won't be able to put on any fireworks shoots until our debt is paid and we have funding in place to pay for the permits and shells.
We are working on paying off what we owe for past shoots. The
Manchester Festival had several fund raising booths for our fireworks
shoots. If you played Shark Attack, Sneaky Tiki, bought a snack, a Zoob
Tube or a Giant Bat you helped to pay down our debt! It's this kind of
community support that is going to get the fireworks shoot back into
Manchester. We hope we can count on you!!
WHAT THE HECK?
Some of you have asked..... "what the heck are those letters beside the headlines on this newsletter?" If you are seeing letters in front and behind the "What The Heck" above it's because you don't have that particular font installed in your computer. Don't worry. You're not missing anything other than a little doodle to make our newsletter look a little fancy...but thanks for asking.
And...if all you see is a white page with an image attachment with
this newsletter it probably means that you don't have your email program
set up to receive HTML. That means your email doesn't display images. All
of the newsletters are sent out on e-stationery. Don't worry about that
either if you're not seeing the background on this newsletter. You're
still getting all the news.
