2005 Manchester Bunny Hop
About the event
This year's Bunny Hop was hosted by staff of Kitsap Regional Library
and the Manchester Library branch, in a joint venture with the Manchester
Community Association. Approximately 50 kids joined us at the library for
games, snacks, crafts and egg hunts. Despite very exciting weather
conditions, which included a wind storm and downpour, we had a fantastic
time!
Fun with the MCA
The MCA offered free snacks to everyone who attended the event, and
sponsored popular activities including the egg grab
game, a tossing game, and (of course) the Egg Hunt!
The MCA Bunny Hop Egg
Hunt was held in a decorated tent in the parking lot outside the library.
Bales of straw spread on top of a tarp inside the tent helped to conceal
plastic eggs containing candy, stickers, and toys, as well as plastic
carrots filled with treats and other fun prizes. Some prizes were "hidden"
in plain sight, and these were often the most difficult to find for even
the seasoned egg hunters in the 7 to 12 year old age group!
We conducted a total of eight rounds of egg hunting throughout the
afternoon, giving away over 700 eggs and eight grand prize toys--one to
the lucky hunter in each round who found the confetti-filled grand prize
egg. While racing to find the eggs was exciting in and of itself, the
biggest challenge was sometimes keeping the Egg Hunt tent and its
occupants
from being blown away in the wind! Like true Washingtonians, all the
participants in the Hunt faced the rain and wind with brave smiles and
enthusiasm. Way to go, everyone.
Fun with the library
The library sponsored several popular activities related to
their event theme: The Tortoise and the Hare. Among these were a
really exciting table-top race track, which pitted wind-up tortoises,
hares, and chickens against one another; a puppet stage where kids could
put on their own tortoise and hare puppet shows, and a very popular craft
table. Thanks to Eric Cisney, a live rabbit named Juniper and box turtle
named Nikki were even on hand all afternoon to meet kids and parents
alike.
Thanks to all of the great participants, volunteers and donors who made
this year's Bunny Hop possible!
