A Manchester Halloween at the library

On Saturday, October 30th 2004, the Manchester Community Assiciation held its annual Fall children's event, A Manchester Halloween, in the community room of the Manchester Library.

Lots of local kids and their families joined us for free snacks, cider and candy, games, crafts, and coloring activities. Princesses, dragons, skeletons, a Bratz doll, Scooby-Doo, jack-o-lamterns, fire fighters, fighter pilots, a soccer ball head and a bee could all be found among the host of spooky, beautiful, exotic and cuddly creatures who joined us for the afternoon. Be sure to check out our new 2004 Manchester Halloween photo album to see them for yourselves!

Among the games we offered this year were both our popular Cannibal Soup tossing game and a new Spider Toss game, a guess-how-many-candies-are-in-the-jar game, and a new game involving guessing the weight of a green, candy-filled alien. Winners of these contests will be posted here soon. Many thanks to the Friends of the Manchester Library, the librarians, everyone who participated in A Manchester Halloween, Debbie Whitehead, and all the volunteers who helped to make this event possible.

The Haunted Garden

On October 31st, from around 5pm until 9:30 pm, the MCA continued our tradition of offering free hot chocolate to everyone who visited Manchester's famous Haunted Garden. We would like to thank the folks who run the garden for letting us join them again in the spookiest place in Manchester!

A cowgirl and a mountain man offered hot chocolate and sold glowing jewelry at the entrance to the Haunted Garden while their pet Were cat prowled the grounds. Visitors to the Haunt jumped, laughed, screamed and sometimes ran away from the many creepy things inhabiting the garden. a great time was had by all!

Check out the 2004 Haunted Garden photo album for a glimpse of the Garden itself and of the many visitors who trick-or-treated there.
