Mendhi Art (temporary tattoos)

The "She Blinded Me With Science" program is especially designed for kids 13
to 18 although anyone can come.  This program is a blend of real science and fun.

The Spinning Sound program is all about how sound works and there will be three disc jockeys to show teens how sound works. They play songs and demonstrate how "scratching" works.

Janine Donoho dresses as a fuzzy biologist (the female version of Bill Nye the Science Guy). The show is a real blast and a lot of fun for teens.

*Also* there will be a drawing for kids to win either a poster of Arwen from the Lord of the Rings or Orlando Bloom who plays Legolas, also from the Lord of the Rings.  This drawing will be held at each of the programs for a total of four people winning a poster.

The second teen program is for kids learning about the use of henna as body decorations.  In this program Janine dresses as an Egyptian Ghawazee dancer or belly dancer and teaches about the Far Eastern tradition of Mehndi (tattooing with henna).  There will be Mehndi artists there to paint designs on kids who
want them.  (This is a dye that wears off over a short period of time it is not a permanent tattoo.)  Janine gives belly dancing lessons to those waiting
for a Mehndi design to be painted on.

Both of these are fun activities for teens and should be a good time for all.

Terrific Tuesdays!

The Manchester Branch is sponsoring (through the Friends of the Library) three programs on the alternating Tuesdays (July 13th, July 27th & August 10th).

These programs are being called Terrific Tuesdays and will have children scattering all over the library in search of treasure.  The kids will become "bookaneers".
There will be several activities for kids to
complete before they win a dip into the Manchester Treasure Chest for a prize.  There will also be a drawing each Tuesday.
