Salmon Bake

Manchester Festival

This year's Salmon Bake was a huge success!  Thanks to everyone who participated in this fund-raising event for the Library.  And special thanks to all the volunteers who made this event possible, including The Whistling Oysters, who entertained us for the whole day!

The MCA put on a small Kids' Carnival this year during the Salmon Bake, and everyone had lots of fun.  We would like to thank Chess Master Will Fugat, who played up to three games of chess at a time against any opponents looking to test their skill. This turned out to be a very popular booth, and we hope to have Will back again at future events.

Congratulations to Brennan S. who won the alien drinking cup filled with gumballs. Brennan guessed that there were 90 gumballs and came closer than all the other guesses (there were actually 101) - great job!!

We'd also like to thank Alene & Shirlee for manning the Project Linus table as well as for providing a non-partisan voter's registration booth.

MCA Blanketeer Challenge!

The MCA challenges you to join us between now and September 11th in making home made blankets to be distributed through Project Linus to local kids in need. We have launched the Blanketeer Challenge as a way for Manchester to make a real contribution to our community on September 11th, a day of remembrance.

To a child who has lost his home in a fire or an infant in intensive care, the tangible presence of their very own home made blanket can bring immeasurable comfort. Providing Project Linus with blankets also supports the police and fire fighters competing in the September 11th Freedom Fighter Challenge triathlon in their work with local children.

See all the details on the MCA website.
