Salmon Bake

Father's Day is just around the corner, which means it's time for the annual Salmon Bake!  The Friends of the Library puts on this shin-dig every year and it's a great fund-raiser for the Library.

The MCA will do our part by providing entertainment for the kids with some activity booths (geared toward children aged 3-12).  These booths will offer games and challenges, for a small fee, with prizes and trinkets as reward.

We could use some volunteers to help setting up and manning the booths.  Please contact us at info@manchesterca.org if you are interested in helping.

Manchester Festival

Every August, the Manchester Community Association throws a party for the town.  We have vendors, games and activities for the kids, music and food.

We're looking at August 21st this year, or possibly the 28th... which would coincide with the RAPSody Bike Race that will be coming through Manchester that weekend. Stay tuned for more details...

Either way, we have a busy couple of weeks planned in Manchester - so plan on being around for all the festivities!

Check out last year's festival at our website:

Library Happenings

The Manchester Library is offering a raffle for a beautiful hand-made trunk - and you'll never guess where the wood came from!

Raffle Tickets are Only $1!

Do you remember the original library?  It was a chicken coop!  The wood from the original structure has been stored at Lois Grevstad's place all these years.  Don Paulson has created this lovely trunk out of the wood and donated it to the Friends of the Manchester Library for this year's fund-raising raffle.

Visit the Library today to see this
trunk and get a chance to own a piece of Manchester history!

Freedom Fighters Challenge (Triathlon)

The Port Orchard Chamber of Commerce is putting together a major event for September 11th that will bring thousands of people here to Manchester!

Local Military, Law Enforcement and Fire Fighting personnel will be participating in a triathlon that will include a kayak race from Port Orchard to Manchester, where the racers will pass batons to their team-members, who will race bicycles back to Port Orchard.

There will be thousands of racers,  spectators, news crews, etc. converging on Manchester that morning.  We all need to come out and give these athletes the support that they deserve.

The MCA and the Library will be planning small patriotic events to coincide with this race.  Check back for more details as we get closer to the date.

Rapsody Ride

The RAPSoday Ride will be coming through Manchester the weekend of August 28-29th!

Most of the riders will come through on Sunday, and Manchester will be the main rest stop for them.  There will be festivities in the Waterfront Park, complete with live music, food and drinks.

Plan on coming out to support these riders and join in the fun at the waterfront.

Lyrica Spring Community Concert

Sunday, June 13 at 2:00
at Elim Lutheran Church

Lyrica is a women's choral group from this area. They are not affiliated with Elim, but enjoy singing in the sanctuary.
Their selections include a wide variety of music. There will be no admission charge, but a freewill donation will benefit Lyrica's programming and Elim's Worship & Music Ministry.

Refreshments will follow in the Fellowship Hall.

Vacation Bible School - June 21-25

There is no charge and it is open to all children, regardless of their church affiliation. It's a morning program with a real outdoorsy Creation theme. I think it will be like a mini daycamp. Parents should call the church if they're interested, at 871-0602.
