About Manchester
Manchester, Washington is a small, unincorporated community on the eastern shore of the Kitsap Peninsula, straight across the waters of Puget Sound from Seattle and Blake Island. (Click for map.) We may not have a mayor or a city council, but we do possess an unmistakable sense of community spirit! You can see it the friendly faces of bicyclists, beachcombers and locals out for a stroll with their dogs, who still smile and say hello when you pass them on the street. You can hear it in the pleasure long-time residents take in relating anecdotes about colorful local characters. Manchester's 'downtown business district' is approximately two blocks wide and two blocks long. Among the businesses thriving there are a small grocery store called Manchester Foods, the Manchester library, Capital Tavern, the Department of Ecology, a local Post Office, Island View beauty salon and massage, a barber shop, BJ's Deli and a restaurant called the Family Inn at Manchester. The cafe, the restaurant, and the barber shop all opened in late fall of 2002, and we're very excited to have them in town. They're good people who care about the community.
