2004 CHRISTMAS EVENTSCarol serenade and a bonfire on the beach On Friday, December 10th, at 7:45pm, the MCA will hold a bonfire on the beach. Argosy cruises will float up to Manchester dock to serenade us with Christmas carols. What a great way to ring in the holiday season! Community Christmas tree lighting and bonfire Join us at around 5:45pm on Manchester beach when the Port Orchard yacht club sends Santa Claus and the Christmas Ships to our shores! Warm your toes around a second MCA bonfire. Immediately following the departure of the Christmas ships, at around 6:00pm, the MCA will officially light this year's beautiful Community Christmas Tree! Free hot chocolate will be served outside the Manchester Library and we'll have two holiday guessing games to challenge your skills of estimation. Anyone who makes a donation will receive a chance to win a BIG Christmas prize! THE 2003 CHRISTMAS TREE Thanks to the efforts of a small group of volunteers, and the generous contributions of Alpine Evergreen Company, Inc. and Briggs Tree Service, the terrace next to the Manchester Library hosted a lovely community Christmas tree again this year This year's beautiful 16' white spruce was generously provided by Alpine Lumber Company, Inc. On the morning of December 6th, a group of MCA volunteers traveled to the woods to meet Alpine Ranger Joe Rein and help select the tree. Then Tom Briggs, of Briggs Tree Service, arrived with his truck and trailer to haul the tree home to Manchester. In the late afternoon, another group of local volunteers wrestled the tree into position and secured it with guy wires. The MCA would like to extend sincere thanks to Alpine Evergreen Company, Inc., Briggs Tree Service, the Long Lake Gardening Club who care for the terrace, and all of the individual volunteers who are making the Community Christmas Tree a reality. Special thanks to Mark and Debbie Whitehead, Eric Cisney, and Phil Paquette for their hard work helping the tree to stand tall. THE 2002 CHRISTMAS TREE Thanks to the hard work of a coalition of determined and nostalgic MCA members and the generous assistance of the Port Orchard Eagles, this year the Manchester Community Association proudly revived the tradition of hoisting a community Christmas tree in the center of town. The beautiful 18' tree we used in 2002 (pictured here) was donated by the Port Orchard Eagles, and stood covered with white and red lights on the hill beside the library, just off Main Street. Anyone who is familiar with the slope of this area will understand just how proud we are of everyone who worked to hoist the tree into position and decorate it, all entirely by hand. This Association works toward enhancing the enjoyment of Manchester for everyone. Please don't hesitate to tell us what you think of our activities, and submit any ideas you have for future events. We look forward to your support and participation, and we hope you liked the tree. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
